Configuration Management

This solution supports Configuration management from the entire Data Center point of view – CMDB – and from the point of view of its individual network and server elements configuration. Additionally Configuration Management manages the quality of configuration of active devices and its alerts on a potential change, also reports the differences: matrix – current state.

Business Service Management

Cloudware Data Center Management Platform is equipped with mechanisms for SLA calculation, the calculation of services availability and analysis of services quality. Major analytical functionalities are as follows:

Support for ITSM processes

We included numerous ITSM processes in CDCM completely adjusted to the EMEA market. They are optimized in terms of complexity, work model and local calendars. Platform allows to use Agile methodic to transmit the code to production and it facilitates management of software editions.

Licenses Management

Thanks to Cloudware Data Center Management System, licenses management becomes much easier and more efficient. Users are accessed to such functionalities as:

Visualization and RCA for the SDH/PDH/DWDM networks

CDCM offers a unique functionality on the market of visualization of connections in the layers lower than IP. We introduced it for the devices managed by EMS/NMS – Huawei and Alcatel. We created an original application connecting with the Element Manager with the CORBA technology. Detected connections are analyzed with the graphs theory. Thanks to the topology it is possible to calculate RCA for the noIP network.

GeoMap Visualization

This functionality is our original application using OpenStreetMap libraries. Thanks to it, the alerts coming from the monitored devices by CDCM can be presented on a geographic map. The whole was implemented in the IBM Tivoli Integrated Portal and in the IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub. Location of the devices on the map is performed on the basis of geolocation data downloaded from either their configuration or for the CMDB base basing on the IBM Control Desk tool.

Integration with the 3rd party systems

CDCM delivers tools ready for a free integration with the following systems:

  • Infosim StableNet and StableNet Telco – tool of the Fault Management, Performance Management and Configuration Management classes
  • Flopsar Suite – tool of the „Fault detection and performance monitoring tool for Java applications” class
  • Cloudware Management Platform (CMP) – tool of the „Real-time Infrastructure Optimization Platform” class

Integrations are performed by original connection applications.

CDCM Repository

It contains a ready application and the processes indispensable for monitoring and management of the system. The repository uses CMP. This how the knowledge base was created:

  • It reflects an entire life process included in the monitoring
  • It allows to systemize the monitoring and naming convention
  • It contains a full acceptation and configuration process of the monitoring for managed systems
  • It presents the catalogue of monitoring services

Original reports

In CDCM we implemented numerous reports adjusted to the EEMEA market requirements:

  • Changes tracking of the services models in time, performed on the basis of the data contained in CMP
  • Assets’ changes tracking in time, created on the basis of the data contained in IBM Tivoli Warehouse
  • „Capacity Planning” reports using the data contained in IBM Tivoli Warehouse
  • Reporting of the licenses in the „per user” model on the basis of the data contained in IBM Control Desk
  • Report comparing current license exploitation in the PVU and RVU models with the number of current licenses, performed on the basis of the data contained in IBM Endpoint Manager – Software Use Analysis
  • SLA changes report in time, using data contained in IBM Tivoli Business Service Manager
  •  „What-if” report based on the data collected in IBM Control Desk

Automatic decomposition of services

With CDCM we deliver a ready application allowing for an automatic decomposing of services in IBM TBSM and describing them with SLA. This process is performed on the basis of the data coming from IBM Control Desk (CCMDB) and IBM TADDM.

Internal mechanisms allow for an automatic changes tracking in resources systems as well as for implementation of changes in the tree of services.

Management processes

In CDCM we implemented IT management processes dedicated for EEMEA. They were optimized in terms of complexity, work model, local calendars and specific escalations.

Monitoring of licenses exploitation

Additional application allows monitoring and alerts when the license in the “per user” model is exceeded.

Calendars in the IBM SCAPM agents

One of the CDCM elements is a functionality of the calendar for individual monitoring tests. It was based on the basis of the agent builder and it allows to launch the SCAPM situation of the scripts in determined periods, e.g.:

  • Every day at: 8:00 – 16:00 every 10 minutes
  • Every day at: 9:00 – 17:00 and on weekends at 10:00 – 15:00
  • At 10:00 – 15:00 every 20 minutes, at 15:00 – 20:00 every 5 minutes
  • Etc.

Automatic notifications

We built this application delivered within CDCM on the basis of IBM Netcool Impact. It enables automatic or manual notifications on alerts by SMS, e-mail. It also contains a functionality of technical and service incidents establishment in BMC Remedy, ATMosfera, HP Service Manager and IBM Control Desk.

Closing of the incident results in closing the alert in IBM Netcool/OMNIbus.

Dynamic monitoring thresholds

The application is dedicated for setting of a dynamic monitoring thresholds for discs or system files on the basis of the definitions in the external database powered manually, on a distinctive administrator’s notification. Thanks to the application:

  • There is no need to interfere with the situations in IBM APM
  • You may change the monitoring levels „on-demand”

SSO

This application is delivered within CDCM, it contains Single Sign-On functionalities, for the following components:

  • IBM TIP and Dash
  • IBM APM
  • IBM CD
  • IBM IEM

Logging may be based on the authentication in Active Directory and LDAP.

Licenses Models

Broad base of knowledge on licenses models: IBM (per user), HP, Oracle and Microsoft. The knowledge base is built on the basis of IBM CD and it allows more detailed monitoring of exploitation and possession of the licenses.
